unity 5terrainvisible
How to check if terrain is visible.
Terrains have no renderer component (you can't use renderer.isVisible), how do you check if they are visible? My current method is to spam raycasts against huge box colliders parented to them which disable the Terrain components of hidden.
I doubt it's too inefficient, since I have them in their own layer, but an out of the box method would be nice.

Unity 5 allows you to use all features of the pro version now. So you have access to occlusion culling. I haven't used it yet, but that might be able to do what you're trying. I'm not sure if it works on terrain or not.
