How to make Prison Architect style building?
Hello all, I was curious if anyone could explain, or point me in the direction of a tutorial, how to make a Prison Architect type build mechanism. If you haven't played P.A. I'm talking about the planning stage when you lay out the walls of your prison in a silhouette mode that starts getting built once you press play. I'm looking to do this in 3D. Thank you for your answers.
What have you searched for, tried, and what specific part of the implementation are you working on (with code). The question is too broad or, in the case of 'point me to a tut' one that you could find yourself by searching.
Your not going to be able to get the code at all, or for free at least. But to start off with you will need to make modular models for all the different parts of the wall/building. Then your gonna have to have a grid based system where you click and it places a prefab with a shader of some sort maybe? Then you can have a timer that goes and then the prefab is changed to how you want the normal look to be. This is just a basic idea of how to do it, and like i said, nobody is gonna give you a entire system for free on how to do this. You just need to expirment on your own with the functions. But uh, goodluck, maybe if your lucky someone will actually post a full system, who knows.
The trick is to think of something similar. This is really just placing buildings on a grid, like WarCraft or Clash of Clans. Searching along those lines might turn up something useful.
Hello thank you all for the answers I see my questions was closed for the reason "Other?" I guess to respond to all of you, I have been searching and I've searched things like "Prison Architect Building $$anonymous$$echanism" "Building Planning mechanism" "$$anonymous$$ake a game like Prison Architect" etc. It wasn't so much that I needed someone to point me to a tutorial I could easily find it was that maybe I'm thinking of this the wrong way. No one has made tutorials for what I'm looking for based off Prison Architect but ins$$anonymous$$d like Owen or Damien said look into modular models and placing buildings on a grid like x games. Thank you all for your answers and the help.
