Unity 5: "Run API updater" greyed out, does it require MonoDevelop?
Hey there, "Run API updater" is greyed out in my project context menu. I'm not using MonoDevelop is that why? I can't find much info about it.
I did try reinstalling MonoDevelop but it didn't fix anything, I'll try full reinstall if there's not an easier answer.
Thanks very much! Romano
Wondering about this, myself. Let me know if you find resolution. I'm using built-in mono-develop.
Be aware that for a Perforce-enabled project -- if you run the updater on first time project import, before you have a chance to put in your Perforce credentials, then the updater will fail to overwrite readonly files.

That's because you don't have any old API calls in source code.
Try put this line in any Start() function, the API Updater windows will popup.
this.animation.Play ();
If you choose No Thanks, then the Run API Update entry in main menu will not grayed out any more.
For me, I just restarted unity and it asked me before Unity even 'started' (right after the project selection window).
