2D Animation Advice

Whats going on guys, quick question.

I really prefer animating in photoshop where I do all of my art. Now is it possible to import those animations into unity somehow or should I stick to the unity animation process with lets say the method they use in the new 4.3 2D demo.

Thank you in advance.

p.s. I have the free version of Unity.

Yes you can use Photoshop. Create your animation in Photoshop, then use the SpritePlane script to export your frames into a Sprite Sheet that you can use in Unity. On the Sprite's settings, you change it to multiple, open the Sprite Editor and define your grid size so it can split the sheet up into individual frames for you to use within your Unity animations.

Okay great! Now my apologies, I left out some important information, will this work for a 2.5D game?!

Yes, you would just use a parent object that had a Cube collider on it, and the Sprite would be a child of it, so you'd be using mainly the 3D toolset, but with the SpriteRenderer component for most of your 2D imagery.

Also, this isn't really the place to ask advice type things, a discussion likes this is meant for the forum. Answer's is for more direct help on a specific issue.

So I seen this video the other day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqo4$$anonymous$$a9E3aU

I've decide I definitely want to do character rigs for my animations.

Now this is done in $$anonymous$$aya I have blender but was wondering if there were better options that anyone knows about more aimed toward 2D??

I asked this question earlier but it never went up, idk why, but anyways thought it would be a good idea to ask here.

@aronatvw This is a more thorough solution for this workflow: http://wandwars.tumblr.com/post/111008790517/photoshop-sprite-sheet-generator-script

Here's it is on the asset store (its FREE!): https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/35998
