Question by Sadiq89 · Feb 15, 2015 at 08:42 PM · materialblender-exporting

Adding material to blender sphere

The sphere in unity is too rough, so I imported one from blender with more edges. This sphere does not have any material! It's blank. I want to add the material in unity. However, when I try to add a material to the imported sphere, it looks completely wrong.

But when I apply the material to the unity sphere, everything looks good. Except that it doesn't look like a sphere. So something is wrong with the imported mesh.

I tried to export to .fbx and I also tried to import the .blend - no difference. alt text

On the left you can see the imported sphere. The right one is the normal unity sphere. On the right panel you can see the import options. I tried a lot (without knowing what I'm doing), and it got worse or it didn't change anything.

I know it's hard to give an answer with so little information, but I don't know what to tell you more.

You need to UV map the object in Blender before export.

how and why?

How? Consult Google. Why? Because you need to.

Without the UV info Unity doesn't know how to map a texture to the mesh.

Search for "Blender UV Unwrap"
