Unity 5 - random tree rotation doesn't work
I'm trying to place trees using the new tree randomization features in Unity 5. I have "Random Tree Rotation" checked but when I place trees with the brush they are all facing the same direction. I'm using the standard palm tree prefab.
Has anyone tried this feature? Height and width randomizations work but not rotation.
Yeah Unity terrain engine is not as good as it should be (bugs like here, limitation, performance...) If you want to change your tree rotation you will have to change your mesh rotation in external 3D app (from my experience changing prefab rotation won't help you)
I noticed this too!! Does anybody know how to fix this??
I have the same problem but I'm trying to create trees from code. A struct is used for this: http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/TreeInstance.html And this struct DOES have a rotation value so it seems to be something which SHOULD work but unfortunately I can't make it work either. The trees all have the same rotation, no matter which value is used.

Hi ! I stepped on this just after upgrading to 5.2. Random tree rotation works fine with LOD-built prefabs.
