Invisible masking for sprite
I want to do an effect, for a sprite to appear gradually in the scene. It would look like a teleportation, for the character to crawl out from a piece of line. This would need something like an invisible masking blended into the background to cover part of the character first. However, other characters who walk pass this part of the masking should not be effected.
I wish I could find an animation to better explain this, but I couldn't find one. Lots of respect for those who are willing to help.
I think I found a way to explain this.

Like the wack-a-mole game in this link. How does it manage to have the mole vanish inside the hole? It obviously doesn't have enough space for the entire mole to hide down there. And making the mole and background different layers would not help, since the bottom of the mole is below the background but the top of it is on top of the background.
