Overdraw problem, how to fix it? (Android)
Hi,
I'm having perofrmance problems with my game. After some time phone starts to overheat and games start to stutter (on some moments for few frames). After some researcing I've come to overdraw, you can see picture from my editor.
For 95% time I have 60FPS, but on some moments - frames it drops below 55, almost never below 50.
I'm using Unity Terrain, Vehicle and few Buildings.
My stats: 30-45 Draw Calls 15-22 Tris 13-20 Verst
How can I fix this?
Do you have some alpha overlay? Do you not want to cull the back faces?
$$anonymous$$eat5000, first of all thank you for trying to help me. I'm a beginner and I almost finished my game which is very nice - compering to similar avaliable at play store. Just this issue with performance/oveheating poped out.
I think I don't have any alpha overlay, how can I check that? This expresions are new to me, just yesterday I found for overdraw... (I'm using mobile diffuse shaders for my objects).
Thank you on your help.
If you have any fullscreen image effects/ processing that has an alpha value (for transparency) can often cause a lot of overdraw and extra processing. Your whole screen gets processed through this transparent layer. Quite intense stuff. Android doesn't like transparency at the best of times.
Do you have more than one camera? If so, make sure they're rendering only the bare $$anonymous$$imum to achieve what you want from them.
@SomeSortOfHuman I have only one camera, shadows are off.
@meat5000 I'm using Simple Water and I noticed that one texture has Alpha. Also simple water is using normal map. I have removed water but device (LG G3) overheats after same time, and game again is not fluid, some stuttering can be noticed as before. I've also managed to drop 6 more draw calls but there is no change of performance at all. I also suspected on my device, but other Unity games works ok (and for some of them I know that they have way more draw calls that $$anonymous$$e, and Verts/Tris are the same, or even higher).
Also, I'm using SkyBox that takes only 1 Draw Call. It is cubed skybox.
