Question by artie · Nov 01, 2013 at 08:18 AM · imagefilebrowser

Any runtime image file browsers available?

I see several general file browsers, in wiki and asset store, but what I'm looking for is one that will show me thumbnails of the contents of image image files (jpg, png). Does that exist?

Something like this: alt text

picbrowser.jpg (130.3 kB)

You mean an in-game, in-Unity file browser? Something like my file manager? (1:30)

Runtime = in-game, in-Unity. Something like, I suppose, but, pardone me, these guys sound like idiots. I have no idea what they are trying to show, I don't think they do either, sound kinda stoned. I'm looking for a file browser (sorta like that), but beyond standard icons, to show the thumbnails of the image files in the file system. Need Windows, $$anonymous$$ac and others would be nice.

Lol! - Are you talking about the video I showed you? - If you do, then that was actually my inventory, and my file manager. And the guys talking in the background, are from a hack show called The broken. (And yes, I like to insert stoned content into my videos, I mostly do Beavis and Butthead. Smart + Stoned = Sexy smart ;)

I haven't found such a file manager in the asset store. But I don't think it's that tough to make the thumbnail feature. I really can't put a how-to-make-a-file-manager answer, it just doesn't fit. If you have specific needs/points of query about it I'll be glad to help. For starters, see.

$$anonymous$$y file manager isn't complete yet, but will be soon.

That explains it. Beavis & Butthead would be very entertaining. Thanks for the feedback

Hello,

I made an Asset to use the Native File Browser from Windows and Mac in Unity at runtime, it's available on the Asset Store: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/68064

I've been searching for a way to do that for more than a year... and finally found how to do it :)
