Getting Started with 2d
Hi guys. New user and newbie to Unity. I've got some code experience (mostly in JAVA), and I'm going to go with C# for my first game idea I've come up with since it is similar to JAVA. I've created a basic 2d sprite as well as a basic background for the sprite and now I'm looking to you guys for assistance with how to proceed. Basically, I have a fixed background that the player can move around in (it doesn't scroll). The basic background Is just a black plane. In front of that black background will be dirt tiles, the same size as the player. The player can destroy each dirt tile and move to the new empty space. This is similar to "Steamworld Dig" or "Dig Dug". I've already got my dirt texture. How should I implement this one dirt texture across the foreground so that the game screen is filled up with 1x1 tiles of it? Dig dug seems to use one large texture across the whole plane, which isn't exactly what I'm talking about.
