Models won't import correctly

Hi all Unity users.

I have a problem. I'm using GoogleSketchup 8 PRO and i have made a model with 35550 meshes and when i export it as FBX model to unity3. It's not imported correctly. and it gives me an error; Meshes may not have more than 65000 vertices at the moment: Mesh 25

What should i do? Please help

what do you mean by it has 35550 meshes? as in that's how many meshes make up your model or your models mesh is made up of 35550 polys or tris.

Lower the verts of your model. Or if you need all verts, split your mesh into 2 or more, import them and combine in Unity.

Try bringing the .fbx into Maya or 3dsMax and see if it still gives you an error. It may just be too big to open in Unity since your polygon count is insane.

sounds like you may have made the mistake of combining and importing your whole level in one go. you'll be having over 71000 tris which is quite a lot as stated above. game engines render whatever is on the screen. so imagine i have four boxes, one in front of the camera, one each side and one behind. if these boxes were imported separately then the engine will only render one box at a time and your game will run quicker. if the boxes were combined and imported together then the engine will render all the boxes which is pointless as we only see one box at a time and it's a waste of resources.
to make sure everythings nice and quick always try to split you terrain/ level into it's component parts. don't import, say, a foliage layer which includes all foliage combined cos it's silly :) not well documented this but something everyone should know.
