LOD or tessellation high poly object for webgl
I'm working on a project where we have a very high poly count object (10M polys + very high res texture) that I want to view on webgl. This is a single object. So I was thinking of using LOD to split up the object into smaller sections and let the LOD system just show the higher quality versions of each section as the user zooms into the object. But I'm not sure if that's the best approach or if there is a way to do this with tessellation or some other technique? It would also be great if there was a way to stream in the object as you are viewing it, so that the entire thing didn't need to be downloaded in one go (for example for WebGL platforms).
