UnityGUI controls stay on the screen after level load

I create a few GUI.buttons in a scene and then when I load the next scene, the button from the last scene show in the background. It only happens when I run the built executable or when using the WebPlayer. It does not happen when running my game in the Unity editor. Any suggestions on what to do?

u may have told the script to DontDestroyOnLoad()
