Draw 2d map array with SetTile or Instantiate ?
Hi there,
I am quite new to Unity and I know that question might sounds like that is has been asked many times, but I cannot find a specific answer to my problem.
I want to build a "procedural" 2d dungeon generator, I already have done it in javascript (using prim algorightm and a* to link the rooms) on my spare time to play with it since this is what I am working with every day at work, but now I am trying to port it to Unity.
My main problem is to figure how I should draw/render my 2d array onto the screen, I initially started to only use SetTile
which worked great, but then I saw a few videos of people using Instantiate
.. Now I know that Instantiating 100x100 2d array can be demanding and un-necessary hence my question.
Also the second question is, should I use a Tilemap with a set of Tile to render it from or just draw a sprite ? It might sounds basic, but I didn't find a lot of tutorial/videos online that describe that problem..
Thanks for the help
