How do I use transform rotation to create haptic feedback?
I am trying to simulate the response of a steering wheel in a VR simulator. I would like the rotation of the wheel in game to be translated to a stepper motor on the wheel held by the player. Any ideas where I would begin to look?
FYI, you had a negative $$anonymous$$arma which I believe came about from having questions that had answers and no accepted ones. If I recall correctly, that eventually nets you negative karma. You want to be sure to accept an answer on every question you open, even if the answer is your own. To counter some of the effect, I up-voted one of your previous answers which bumped your karma positive again. $$anonymous$$eep an eye on it!
Do you mean the steering wheel is an actual physical device, like a joystick? If so, seems like it would entirely depend on the specific API.
Or are you asking how to get a single "spin" number out of transform.rotation?
Dracor: really? so if no one can answer your questions, the site kicks you off? Seems odd.
Thanks for the bump Dracorat. I had no idea I was being rude to the bot. :-) Owen: I would like to make a real steering wheel respond to the ruts of the in-game road. A real car reacts the terrain and makes the driver wrestle it sometimes. I've been looking around for plugin that might give me a way to connect my computer to an Arduino controller for the motor. It seems like it should be doable. Do you agree?

I found a plug-in on the Unity Asset store that will let me do exactly what I am looking to do. The plug-in is called Uniduino. This will allow both input to Unity and output from Unity. Yay!
