help making map!
Alright first off i'm still a n00b at this stuff so I thought I would come here. I am currently working on creating a map of Europe using the terrain tool for my up and coming political strategy game but I am finding the terrain tool that came with Unity very tedious and uncooperative :(. I was wondering if there is a faster way of making maps and terrains. Thanks in advance!

Yes, the terrain tool can generate terrains from a gray-scale height map stored as a picture. There are many geological survey sites where you can download a gray-scale height map of places in the world at resolutions you would like (up to a certain threshold obviously). Here is a place you can get such a gray-scale height map that you can then crop down to something more reasonable for what you are looking for: http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view.php?id=73934
I haven't created terrains from grascale height maps so I can't give you the details on that but I know it is fast and easy and there are many tutorials on how to do it in unity.
