Question by Winter · Aug 06, 2010 at 11:32 AM · graphicscardlaptop

Does the Unity Webplayer Plugin run on a laptop without a graphics adapter expansion card?

I downloaded the Webplayer plugin from a www.Webkinz.com to run a special game area, called "Mazin' Hamsters". The application doesn't work, showing only fragments of the desired display. My laptop doesn't have a dedicated graphics adapter card, it has it embedded in the chipset. Will it work at all on this laptop? Your help is very much appreciated, F. Winter

Yes, it works. but your graphics adapter should support the shader model that used in that game. most of shaders are compatible with shader model 2 but some of them are 3.

Hello, thx for yr quick answer. I am sorry to admit that I am not at all familiar with the Unity program, just wanted to set up the laptop for the Webkinz things my daughter wants to play with - so I don't know anything about the Shader model. Is there any setting I should change? Thx much

No, its a graphics adapter property that you can find in its specs. Just search for your adapter specs in google.

For example take a look at this: http://www.intel.com/cd/products/services/emea/eng/chipsets/393460.htm

Wow, this is really helpful, thx much. I found out that I have $$anonymous$$obile Intel 945G$$anonymous$$ Express Chipset Family and it supports shader model 2.0. The best bet would be to look for a newer Graphics $$anonymous$$edia Accelerator Driver and try again. Thx much for taking care of a newbie, Friedgard
