Changing the '2D Axis'
I have an asset imported that has been programmed to work up/down on the Y axis, and I would like to have the camera look down on it from the top. This way the gravity also falls away from the camera in a downward space. It would be nice to be able to use the 2D button feature to lock the view. Is there any way to do this, or any way I can work around it?

Yep, just change the camera orientation and position so it looks down. The option for that appears when you select your camera, then look in the inspector panel, and adjust the Transform component values.
I know how to rotate the camera. Using the 2D button does more than just move and rotate the camera, it locks it to that plane so you can pan around.
