Editing y value of model under a first person controller has no effect
I have a first person controller, (FPC) that has two models under it, one active and one inactive. Changing the y value of the second model has no effect whatsoever when I run the game, even though it appears to work when I initially change the y value. I have noticed that the model always renders at the center of the FPC, no matter what coordinates I designate.

Most likely because the model is animated. The animation controls the position of the model and are usually animated from the local center (0,0,0). You can get around this by adding a offset GameObject. Create an empty GameObject (named "offset" for example) which you put into your controller. Then put the model into the offset GameObject and modify the offset y position instead of the model.
