animation from MAYA never works - please assist.
I animated a cylinder in Maya by using a hair system curve (not bones/iK). I want to import my animated object into Unity. I have tried all kinds of different export combinations to no avail. I am exporting to .FBX (of course).
I have no problem getting the model into unity, however, the animation never works. I get nothing as far as animation is concerned. Can someone please break down the steps needed to import an animated model from Maya to unity. All the videos I have viewed never work either. I have tried everything I know and more and still nothing ever works. Please outline for me how to do this step by step. I am at a dead end and don't know what to do.....

1: How are you animating the cylinder? How is it attached to that curve? WireDeformer?
2: Unity works with SkinCluster. You need to have bones.

Okay. I recreated the model using splineI$$anonymous$$, and imported it into Unity.
Now, the animation works in the preview, but it doesn't work in the scene view when I test. What is going wrong? Please advise.

To make animation, to work in Scene view it's not just placing the model in the scene and playing.
Have you created Animator Controller? Have you setUp the clip in the Animator?
