Camera keeps bouncing after I pan the camera in Editor mode

I'm having trouble panning around the scene while in editor mode. I'm using the Maya hotkey combination ALT + Middle Mouse + Drag to pan, but every time I do after I release the mouse button the camera slides part way back to my starting position. It's really annoying because I have to overshoot my pans to account for this bounce factor. Is there any way to turn this off?
