How to Play an Animation in Unity 4.5.3?

Hello I have an animation I've made from Maya and baked into an fbx. I want to be able to put the fbx in a scene in Unity and press play and be able to see it animating but I can not figure out how to do this (the character doesn't move when I press play, it just sits there in game or scene view) in the new 4.5.3 version on Unity. The animation works in the little preview window at the bottom right. Your help is much appreciated, thank you for your time!
