Animation + Scripting = I Don't Understand (Help)
Hello! I am going to get straight to the point. I do not understand some things related to animating and scripting that have to do with each other. I am still rather new, but I just cannot even wrap my head around it. So I am trying to make an open world FPS game (pretty basic for now) and I want a REAL BIG focus on animating every single thing (opening doors, picking stuff off of the ground, etc.) but I don't understand like what if somebody presses "E" to do a certain action like picking something up and putting it my guys' backpack, but if they press E at the spot I did not animate it at such as behind the gun or something. Wouldn't it mess the whole thing up and look really weird? Another thing I do not understand relating to this is gun attachments. Do I have to reanimate the whole entire gun if a guy chooses to put an attachment on a gun? Thank you guys!
To answer both questions: I$$anonymous$$ and no, of course not.
I looked at I$$anonymous$$ and I understand now, thanks, that helps so much. Do you still need to animate every single I$$anonymous$$ animation though? Because I want them to be realistic animations, not some quick animation a computer came up with.
That completely depends on what you do with I$$anonymous$$, You could, if you wanted to, procedurally generate all of your animations. But that again would take much more time than using actual animations.
Sweet! I looked into it a bit more and I understand what it is quite well now. Thank you so much for your help, this was something I was wondering about for a long time and how other game animators do it. Very helpful.
