Rename object that has animation?
Is there a way I can rename an object that is animated in unity without breaking the link to the animation?? :(
I just ran into this bug... 30+ bones in an animation and I renamed bones to cleanup the scene and boom... broken animation
Did you ever find a solution? I'm facing this issue now, too.
Rena$$anonymous$$g the object in inspector screen does not work?
This is still happening with 5.3.2. I tried both rena$$anonymous$$g the objects in the scene and prefabs in the asset folder. Nothing does to it!
Still encountering this problem in Unity 2021. Strange this hasn't been addressed by now.

Hey sorry this is so late, but I did find this thread in the Unity forums; take a look at the 6th post on this thread:
https://forum.unity3d.com/threads/renaming-moving-child-game-objects-breaks-animationclips.101866/
It doesn't fix the issue 100% because it's still tedious to rename the properties inside every animation clip, but it still helps at least if you really want to rename something after animating it.
