Softimage to Unity Legacy problem.
Hello. I have been making animated game content for unity. I wasnt having any problems until now. i have a plotted tank with all it's animations set. with the rig set to generic, the animations play correctly. with the rig set to legacy, the tank does weird deformations. what i am doing:
rig tank
make shadow rig
select shadow rig and tank geometry and bake (fit plotted values to Fcurve)
remove constraints
export fbx
Does the rig HAVE to be in legacy in unity? its working fine with generic.

what animation set are you using the mecinam or the animation.play?
hello bodec thanks for the reply :) tbh i dont know much about mecanim or animation.play is it something i should know about?
$$anonymous$$ecinam is unitys newest animation motor when you bring a model in and set legacy or generic would be where you decide to run mecanim or not there are 2 forms for mec. There is the most commonfor biped characters which doesn't work well when you have different height toons then there is generic which works with everything and you can use staitionary animations and move the character at a set speed this works for stuff like tank deer and in places where you have non biped characters if you are importing animations that were set up in a older version of unity you need to use legacy.

let me get this straight. Legacy is for mec i.e. bipedal humanoid characters? Generic is for anything else? Can i use generic for game animations for tank?
Legacy is for all it's the older animation system. Generic is for everything but more targeted for non biped and humanoid is for humanoid alone. You should be using legacy or generic on your tank
