Problem is outdated as it was about a WebPlayer build. The WebPlayer is no longer supported. You have to build for WebGL now.
Creating a .unity3d file
So Im trying to upload one of the unity games that I created onto a website, but everything I look at is telling me that I need a .unity3d file to upload onto the server. Ive looked through all of my various different Unity projects but not one of them has a .unity3d file in it. So I was wondering exactly how you go about making one so that I can upload my games.

You need to change the platform in File -- Build Settings.. -- select web player -- switch platform. Then if you build your game it will create a basic html and your .unity3d file
