Question by 4tesQ · Jun 01, 2016 at 05:14 PM · unityeditorfullscreentechnical

Unity 5.3.4f1 editor keeps crashing every time I adjust the size of the window.

Every time I adjust the window size of the unity editor or any size-adjustable part of Unity, e.g: The hierarchy or the inspector, the software crashes and I am forced to restart it via task manager. Any idea why and how to fix this?

I am new to this software so please bear with me.

Thanks! :)

First thing that comes to my $$anonymous$$d hearing this is the possibility that you have a active script with an OnGUI void that contains an error and causes the freezing (like an infinite loop). I dont know what things/scripts you have in your scene and I dont know if this could cause the freeze, but I hope this helps.

@aWolf$$anonymous$$ing Thank you for your reply. The thing is I havent even started on a project yet. I am using a fresh install of unity and I have encountered this issue. I have not touched anything or altered anything...

@crackyourspeakers Not sure what your set up is like. But I work on a laptop and have the same issue. When my computer is plugged in, it's fine but when its not, it crashes when I resize any editor windows. (it's not a powre save setting issue either). I've been talking with support and they've been helpful. Another solution is to force open unity in gl mode. The window flickers a little, but at least it doesn't crash.

Right click your shortcut and go to properties. under the shortcut tab there is a input for "target". at the end of the path paste " -force-glcore" without the quotes. then hit apply. this has also stopped it from crashing when not plugged in to power. Hope this helps.

ps I'm using unity 2018.2.0f2
