State of affairs for softbody physics in Unity…
Hello all,
I’m attempting to create a game that requires proper softbody functionality. (This will hopefully be used on a skeletal mesh to simulate breasts, buttocks and thighs moving realistically as our game character moves.)
I have tested the concept with UDK and was able to get it to work there. I understand that Unity also has PhysX but after reading dozens of posts realize that soft body are not fully functional in Unity.
Q1: Are there any plans to get proper softbody working in Unity soon? When can I expect this to work?
Q2: I understand that some developers are using cloth simulation and the ‘pressure’ functionality. Is this the “way it’s done” or are Unity users waiting for UDK-style soft body?
Q3: Could the above approach with ‘pressure’ work for our needs? (e.g. can I rig that ‘soft body’ mesh to the rigged static mesh for proper bone-driven animations?)
Q4: Could you recommend a technique / tutorial for ‘best practice’ getting soft bodies working in Unity?
Many thanks for any hint you can offer!
Daniel,
