Use eclipse as a Script Editor for c#?
Hello everyone
I have been trying to find a way to use eclipse on unity, because for me, Monodevelop is very slow, and as a Java developer, I really prefer the Eclipse interface... I made some research if it was possible, and the only result I got was for android application, which is not what I am aiming for. Any help about this would mean alot. Thanks :)
Like I said, this is for android application, and this require Unity pro, which I do not have

To directly integrate it into Unity and use it as your default editor, it probably isn't possible since the engine is programmed to respond to only Monodevelop. You might want to go into the actual folder and open your existing scripts with Eclipse manually and drag-and-drop new ones into the folder, but that's all I got.
It is possible to directly assign it into unity as default editor. check @perrygarg 's answer on how to do same or u can also find it on unity website(& obviously Google). Then you just double click on scripts in unity and it will open it in eclipse editor for you.

As i can understand your requirement, You simply want to edit your scripts into Eclipse IDE..right?? If so, simply click on Edit->prefrences->external tools from your unity editor and change External Script Editor there. It does not require Unity Pro. Hope it helps :)
thanks for the reply, it did opened it, but then Its only a simple text editor, as in notepad could do better. The reason why I liked eclipse was because of the smoothness of the auto complete word. Also, I dislike monodevelop for 2 things: 1, the way he tabs my brackets and try to clear my code makes me fight with him... and 2 is that the Ctrl + X is not working all the time, and when it does, it might not copy the text...
@marco213 yours welcome, obviously it will not auto complete it because for csharp and javascript eclipse here is only working as 'Editor', not 'IDE'. I found $$anonymous$$onodevelop good for scripting in csharp(*i am also java developer). In my monodevelop, ctrl+x works all the time,i usually use it. and moreover you can set your favorite preferences in monodevelop under Tools->options in monodevelop. like for e.g. whether you want monodevelop to fold your code or not etc. etc.
you're right, i should have said IDE ins$$anonymous$$d... And oh well, thanks for helping :)
@marco213 glad to help :) Plz accept as right answer only if it answers ur question. Thanks.
