MonoDevelope is not opening!
The latest Unity update didn't fix this, so I'm out of Ideas. I want to fix this, so please don't suggest downloading a new coding software, it's not that big of a problem. Thanks for any answers in advance!
Try not just updating Unity, but first Uninstalling your current version of Unity AND $$anonymous$$onoDevelop in your programs list. THEN install the newly downloaded version of Unity.
When you started Unity for the first time you entered your Unity account details. All your asset store purchases should be retrievable. Always backup your projects and assets as a matter of course!
You will not lose anything. When you uninstall, your project folders stay right where they are. Asset store purchases are covered via your account. Your downloaded packages should stay where they are as well, even if not, you would simply be allowed to re-download them, so long as you're logged in to the correct account.
If this ends up helping, please vote up and accept the answer.
I have the same problem. $$anonymous$$onoDevelop does not open at all (not even an error) when I try to open scripts from Unity. When I open $$anonymous$$onoDevelop directly, it displays the same error shown above. This started happening only after upgrading to Unity 4.2. I already tried uninstalling $$anonymous$$onoDevelop and Unity and then reinstalling both, but this did not help. I'm using Windows 7.

I found the answer to this problem here:

This worked for me and seems to have worked for some other people as well. Hope this helps.
