Question by Juddling · Nov 27, 2014 at 07:38 PM · buildresourcespython

Add python script to build

I have a python script in the /Assets/Standard Assets/Scripts/ directory.

When I build the project and try and run it on another machine, the script isn't bundled into the build_Data folder, and even if it were, it doesn't look like it would have the same path.

So my question is how do I reference a script written in a non-unity language and have it bundled into the build?

copy/pasta the py script into the build_Data after compiling? I have no idea if unity can read py, but that would be more a plugin I guess (Assets/Plugins)?

I guess I could do that, thanks.

I had to manually copy over my project custom config text file which was found using Application persistentDataPath, from the editor to the build_Data

You're almost describing the purpose of the "Resources" folder, but not quite... if Unity can't make any use of the file, why do you want it bundled in the build?

C# starts the python script as a process and uses its output
