Unity Recommended Specs
Hello,
I am currently developing a racing game (high quality 3D models, lots of polygons, complex shaders etc.) and I am considering purchasing a new laptop, the Dell XPS 15. Before I buy the laptop, I just want to make sure these specs are adequate to develop a complex game on Unity 5 with quick response and 30+ FPS.
CPU : Kaby Lake i7-7700HQ Quad-core processor (up to 3.8 GHz)
RAM : 16 GB DDR4-2400MHz
Storage : 512GB SSD
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5
If there are any more necessary specs related to Unity performance, please don't hesitate to comment. I think the Dell XPS 15 should be suitable to Unity Game Development, but if not, please say so and if possible comment a (sub $2,000) alternative.
Thanks in advance
those specs are close to high end, right? I don't see why this shouldn't be enough power.
Will it be enough for desktop/console development or just mobile development though?
The specs seem impressive but keep in $$anonymous$$d it is laptop so it has some drawbacks first the screne size anything less than 19" is quite frastrating to develop into, talking from personal experience, and the most crucial part of a laptop is the cooling system, you ll notice most companies won't say anything about it so you ll have to look around for reviews. Anyway if you are serious about developing games buy a desktop and not laptop will cost you less and will have better specs and longer lifetime. Cheers , keep in $$anonymous$$d thats a personal opinion.
I agree on the monitor part. there should be at least 2
