Your main problem seems to be your shading, not the texturing. This is because Blender and Unity have a very different way of shading their objects. Blender keeps a normal on a triangle basis while unity requires a normal for each vertex. In the inspector of the fbx you are trying to import, be sure to set normals to 'calculate' instead of the default 'import' option. This should go a long way towards solving your problem. As far as texturing goes: be sure to use UV based coordinates in blender and unwrap your model. Unity applies textures on a UV basis while Blender has the option to automatically calculate the texture coordinates of a model. UV coordinates aren't generated in Blender until you UV unwrap your model.
I hope this solves your problem.
Cheers,
Sam
