Do you have to rearrange the materials after importing a blend model?
After i import my blender model (even a simple cube) the materials list is not in the correct order and this then has the textures in the wrong places. I have to manually sort the materials list. Is this normal?
Do you have multiple UV maps assigned to different materials?
Ok maybe i should of also stated that im new to both Blender and Unity, while in blender i select faces, smart UV unwrap, then use the appropriate image in the UV window, i continue this until the model is textured. I would have more than 1 texture file for the model. I then move all images over to the project folder and save the blender model there too. Would this mean i have multiple UV maps? I dont know where the UV maps assign to the materials so i cant say, i just see in Unity the materials array assigned to textures from the model imported.

This seems to happen when a part of your mesh has no material assigned to it at all (and is therefore untextured). Rather than creating a material for the missing piece, Unity messes up and mixes up all the materials on the mesh.
