Built-In Sprite Packer Greyed Out
As the title says the option for Sprite Packer under the Windows menu is greyed out therefore I can't use it. I have tags on my sprites. I have the Sprite Packer Mode set to "Always Enabled". I'm running 4.5 Free Version. Any clue on why I can't access the Sprite Packer? Is it a Pro-only feature?

Yes, it is a Pro-Only feature. That is your problem here, I suspect. You can use everything else related to 2D in the Free version, but for the Sprite Packer specifically, you must be using Pro.
I just bought and activated Pro, but it's still greyed out in Window menu. What?

Resolved for Unity 4.6.0 Was seeing this with 4.6.0b20 - reverted to the new mainline 4.6 release. Still there. Change platforms a few times - still there Reimport all - still there Delete library / temp folders / reopon - solved.

I already gave the Forums and Answers a shot or two. Nothing in that thread has worked for me. Not the packing tags, not the create a new project, not the switching build platforms. Nada. I'm stuck.
@CunningGrayFox at that point, I'd suggest reinstalling Unity.
Have the same problem, reinstalling Unity did not help also.

Me too,
me and two of my colleagues are working with Unity Pro licenses on the same project. We are on Unity 4.6 beta 21 on Mac OS X Yosemite. Only I do not have access to the sprite packer as it's greyed out. When I create a new project both, sprite packer and version control are selectable. I have also tried to return the license, remove all traces of Unity as suggested here:
http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/uninstall-unity.18762/
and reinstalled it providing the license again. Both version control and sprite packer are still greyed out. The sprite packer mode is set to always enabled. Am I missing something here?
Just wanted to answer my own question. The sprite packer is absolutely a pro feature. In my case, I was on Unity Pro, BUT my Platform was iOS, meaning I needed that Pro License too. $$anonymous$$aybe that also helps to understand it for others

Here is a link to an online free sprite packer built for unity3D 5. Just make sure the files you upload are all the same naming convention with leading zeros like. frame01, frame02, frame03,,, frame10 and so on. Also you upload a zip file which is very usefull.
