Bar with segments depending on a value.

Hello , how would you create a Bar with segments depending on a value? For being clear , like a DoTa or LoL health bar , where segments depends on health. I mean , it's not a simple sprite overlay , segments there represent int X life , so each character has a own health bar. Any suggestion?
