Importing Assets opens many non-Unity programs

I have absolutely no idea what is happening. I have a project, and I try to download and import assets. At some point during the import, many random programs/applications on my computer open. Granted, they may be processes already in use, but so many windows pop up, and icons fill my taskbar. I use Mozilla Firefox, and even many of my folders on my Bookmarks Toolbar are selected, opening several drop-down menus.

In Unity, I get the following errors...

It happens every time I try to import, and only then. I've even deleted, cleared, and reinstalled Unity. When I reinstalled, it did succeed once, but then it started again.

The following is my taskbar after the error. Everything to the right of the Unity icon was not there before. The icons with the red line through them are normal. But the icons for Mozilla Firefox, Windows Explorer (I believe), and Unity, which were originally open, had new windows/processes open because of the error.
