No joystick input with Unity 4.5

I'm on a macbook pro running Mavericks. I can play other games from steam totally fine. When I try and run my own projects in Unity or other people's projects in Unity The controller just isn't even there. I've looked everywhere and found nothing. I'm hoping it's some setting I overlooked or something. Please help. So frustrated.
