Question by ArmanOhanian · May 28, 2015 at 08:40 PM · framerateframes per second

FPS in single digits... on ATI Radeon 3000

Hello everyone,

I get single digit Frames-per-Second in Unity Editor in Game view. I am not trying anything fancy now, just the example project scenes, the Survival Tutorial, and some basic terrain scene I made.

I get 2-12 FPS in all 3D scenes. In the sample projectd, there is a 2D example where I get a ~100FPS.

My GPU is "ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics", exactly as it reads on the Adapter tab in properties. I believe it's a built-in or on-board GPU.

Question: Is this GPU really this BAD or I have something else going on????

I have experienced this in Unity 5.01 and 5.02. I have no experience with earlier versions.

The rest of the machine specs are:

  • Manufacturer: ZT Systems

  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955, 3.2GHz

  • RAM: 6GB

  • OS: Windows 7, 64-bit

If you have thoughts about the CPU, please share that too.

Info here Basically, you've got an on-board gpu (-> weak) that was released in 2007 (-> outdated). It should be fine for normal programs and (basic) 2D games, but don't expect to do anything in 3D.

Thanks @Side !

How do you think about my CPU?
Do you think I can get away by adding a better GPU or need an entirely new system?

What GPU would you recommend in case I can get away by just replacing the GPU?

I upgraded the graphics card to "EVGA GTX 750" and all my troubles went away! This is not the best on the market, but any better and I had to buy a new power supply.
