Question by Michael 12 · Mar 28, 2011 at 04:34 PM · performancesoundeffect

Why Would This Happen (Sound Related)

OK yesterday, I added a nice sound clip to my "Scared Alien" so when my FPS player got within a certain range he would run away and play a nice "Alien Shriek" sound. And yesterday it was working wonderfully. This morning I start up Unity as normal and go to test out my game and everything is acting all "Stuttery" and "Choppy" for lack of better words. So I remove the sound and the scripting calls for the sound effect and everything returns to normal WTF?!? I REALLY hate this crap sometimes :(

Double check you don't have any apps open that could be causing the problem or that are using lots of CPU. I've had issues before with a media player open causing problems.

Thanks $$anonymous$$eltdown, I thought a reboot was in order so I restarted my machine and it still was doing it, so I pulled out the sound clip and script calls and then everything was fine... but why would it have worked so well in the first place. REALLY sucks because I REALLY wanted that extra bit of sound happening just to give a little more life to the scene :(

Did you change your asset folders at all outside Unity? That can sometimes mess with the metadata.

Naw, I think you were right the first time. It's got something to do with "Final $$anonymous$$edia player", it seems to only do it after I've downloaded and have been listenning to sound effects. So I put my sound back in and re added the code. It should be O$$anonymous$$. Atleast now I know why it was doing it. Thanks buddy for the input and suguestions it's much apreciated :)
