3d and 2d game

Hello,

I am working in my 3d game and I think it will be much better if some part of the game become a 2D game. There is way that at some point of the scene you can convert a 3d game into a 2D game. Is that possible? Is possible for the game at certain specific stage become a 2D game and when finish go back to 3D? And if so what involves?

By the way this is a mobile game .
