best terrain creating software
Hi all, the built in Unity Terrain Editor sucks big time. Can you please suggest a decent stand-alone software alternative to it?

Terrain can (correct me if I'm wrong) only be edited in Unity and not in standalone software alternatives.
A good free stand-alone software alternative for modeling is blender.
Have a look at the Asset Store for more advanced terrain editing software.
World Builder is an asset which gives more advanced terrain editing tools.
I need the software to be able to create tunnels (and caves, etc.) and I would like it to have more features than the terrain editor in Unity. Blender is used to create 3d stuff in general, I had in $$anonymous$$d something more specialized. World Builder looks...average :)
Have a look through this thread to see if it answers your question.
Currently, there is no easy way to make tunnels.
