Can I use Unity as a server-side renderer on linux?
I have a linux server(ubuntu 12 x64, Mesa 9) and I would like to use Unity as a Server-side renderer on it.
I have already written a demo server-side renderer using something called JPCT (Java) and it worked well, so it is a graphically competent machine with the MESA opengl graphics driver. MESA is like a software clone of hardware opengl functionality. Applications make calls to it as they would any opengl capable hardware, using system memory and CPU to process 3D instead of VRAM and VCPU. As with any server, system memory and CPU is ample.
First of all, my linux-published unity app does not run on it. I have the executable set to run as an executable in ubuntu, but it just ignores me and doesn't launch it. I don't know what it needs and I see no logs. Just fails.
Anyone have any ideas if a machine like this can run unity?
