Web Player occasionally lags browser

I use the Unity Web Player to host my game on my personal website, but there's an issue which could cause a lot of problems if I were to publish the game. I use Chrome, and it occasionally just freezes when I play the game, I can't exit it properly, open a new tab, etc. The game continues to run though, I can see the clouds/sun move, however there is no input into the game (can't control my character). This lag lasts about 10 seconds until I can keep playing, and it usually keeps happening every minute or so. Game seems to work properly as a standalone program, so I don't think this is a problem with coding. What could be the cause?
