Creating a mesh over a terrain
Hello , i'm trying to make a political map for my game where i can show which countries hold certain regions, i managed to make the borders by using an Image with the regions drawn in it and extracting the positions, now i'm trying to fill in the area inside the borders so i can then colour it according to the owner.
Here's what i tried so far:
Triangulation based on the border points ( does not work because the mesh is not detailed enough in the middle, so it clips trough the terrain.
Generating a grid over the terrain didn't work a 256*256 terrain ends up with over 65k cells making performance horrible.
Triangulation using all the points in the image respective to the region did not work , unity simply stopped responding.
Been smacking my head against the wall for a while over this, i apreciate any hints towards solving this. Sorry in advance for any grammatical errors.
