How do I make particle effects like these?
Ones which look like the thrusters of this spaceship. I've been trying to make similar ones, but they all end up looking terrible.

High emission rate, additive particle material, cyan colouring. If you can see individual particles, up the emission rate.
Alternatively, you could be tricky and use a TrailRenderer with a custom shader handling its material... but that'd require some knowledge of how to write shaders.
Could also try the "stretched" setting (on the renderer.) Try a noisier cloud texture (like the edges and tips of the flame.) Can use a 2nd very faint white system for the glow.
It's art, so takes practice, and sometimes a small change can suddenly make it look nice. Also like art, after a while you own work will look terrible to you. Need to get someone else to look at it, or come back later and look fresh.
