Question by gurinderhans · Oct 13, 2014 at 06:34 PM · 2d-physicsframeratetime.deltatime

I want to make my 2D rigidbodies move smoother!

Hi there, I am building a simple game which consists of 2D objects falling from some height downwards and as time goes on a variable value increases which also adds relative force downwards to the objects to make them fall faster. However I feel the objects aren't falling as smoothly as they should be. I do know about Time.deltaTime, however this should only matter if I am using transform.position or transform.rotation to keep movements synced between frames. I want to know how I can make this game more smoother as I feel it is skipping couple of frames (not very noticeable). The way I see the objects falling is they are leaving their picture of previous frame (i.e the frames are overlapping?). The object is falling and you can see a part of it behind itself. It has RigidBody2D, a destroy script, and it's a sprite (a solid colored image I made from photoshop) no textures just solid white and black colors. There aren't any textures in the whole game for that matter. I have changed the gravity in Physics 2D to a lower value as the objects would fall very very fast with the default -9.81 and it's now -3.81.

Change your rigidbody Interpolate setting. It will guess the position of your objects more accurately in between the FixedUpdate's. Should be much smoother, if this does not fix it then you have another underlying issue somewhere.
