Need to see the whole hierarchy of a Prefab in the Project Tree
Hi Guys,
I'd like to know whether there is a way to see the whole hierarchy of a Prefab in the Project Tree Tab.
For example, when I have a character prebab, which consists of a mesh and a skeleton hierarchy, I can see only the one level of the hierarchy in the Project Tree.
Having this would be GREAT for two reasons:
1) I could see a Preview of every sub-object in the hierarchy (e.g. of a mesh consisting of several parts), not just the whole thing.
2) The Preview window if much better for quickly previewing the objects, rather than placing them into Scene a flying around with the scene camera. Possibility to see every single part of the Prefab separately, rather than putting it into scene and moving this single part away from the model to see it makes a lot of sense to me. :-)
Thanks for your answers, Petr

You're right but obviously for previewing it's not comfortable (for the above reasons). I still wonder why there is just one level in the Project View...

No. I believe creating an instance of the object in your scene view is the only way to see the sub-objects you are talking about. You can always just double click on the instance in the hierarchy to snap the scene camera to it's location.

It's by design, see this forum thread for the explanation: https://forum.unity3d.com/threads/showing-deeper-nested-levels-in-prefabs-project-view.8101/#post-60512
Note that it is back from 2008, so there doesn't seem to be any effort to handle this better, like the suggestion in the above thread.
