My pc shuts down when i put 3d car model into scene or the hierarchy from the project view?
I have downloaded some free car models from turbosquid(car.turbosquid.com), each car model has a size of 50-70 mb. I can import them to unity but when try to bring them to the scene or hierarchy view, my pc shuts down. Does anyone have any idea?

Probably because a model of 50MB-70MB in size has far too many polygons for Unity to handle for a single model. I mean that's just humongous man. Not sure about current versions but I know in Uniyt3.x the vert count max for a single model was around 64k, and that's around 5MB (I think), not including textures / materials. I'd have a look at something like Cruncher, or something of the like. I'm sure there are some decent free polygon reduction applications for 3D models out there, just google the hell out of it. I'd say try looking at the model in its native application to see if it lags horribly or shuts down when you open it. If it does, I'd say it's probably heating up your gpu too much or simply overloading things. I'm no guru, but hopefully this helps you find something to resolve your concern.
$$anonymous$$y unity version is 4.1.5 and the model i downloaded is above 50 mb excluding textures/materials. I didn't know about the polygon reduction application and i think that's where the problem. Thanks a lot clunk47 :)
