How would you go about creating footstep sounds?

I'm entirely new to Unity, and object orientated programming in general. I know the basics and the syntax but I'm very amateur. How would you go about writing a footstep sound simulator? Also, would it be possible to detect when you're stepping on or near Terrain-Grass, created by the Terrain Grass Brush Tool?

I clear duplicates which are truly the same question from the same poster. The rest I tell them to google/search/ etc.

Tyridge78: $$anonymous$$eep an eye on http://qlcomp.com for upco$$anonymous$$g plugin that will do what you want easily.

I appreciate what you're saying but, overwhel$$anonymous$$gly, mods need to delete rubbish more!

It's great to see people making serious assets for these really common problems. it's ridiculous in this day and age to "program footsteps", quite right. Can't wait for the asset
